I just wanted to remind everyone that our October 16th conference "Preserving The Past For The Future" is getting closer. Help celebrate National Family History month. "Preserving Your Past For the Future" October 16th 9:00-3:30 The Lafayette Genealogical Society and the Lafayette Family History Center are cosponsoring "Preserving Your Past For The Future" an all day genealogical conference. This event is open to anyone interested in family history or just preserving their past. Registration begins at 8:00am at 116 Bluebird Dr. Lafayette, La. Cost is $10.00 and covers a brown bag lunch and conference syllabus. There will be 20 different classes offered for the beginner to the professional. Several being taught by Louisiana's own genealogical professionals. And the African American Genealogical Connection. The AAGC is located in New Orleans and will be teaching classes on researching and preserving African American History. In addition, there will be classes taught on Internet and Technology, Organizing Your Paper Files, Louisiana Research, So You Think You Know How To Read A Census, Getting the most out of Newspapers, Breaking Down a Brick Wall with Land Records, Beyond The Dioceses Records, Heritage Albums and Diamonds in a Court House. Just to name a few. There will be a variety genealogical door prizes given away during lunch time. For those that are interested in learning more the Louisiana Association of Professioanl Genealogist will be meeting right after the conference at 3:45. Come learn what APG is all about.
