A note from Eula that we should remember our ancestors. Earl Eula, I believe that you are a member of the Lafayette Genealogy Society, if I remember correctly? If you are.... could you please send this notice to the members for me? Julaine wrote the below notice since I told her I thought you were a member. We are a group called "The Friends of Historic St. Nichols Cemetery" in Patoutville and we are trying to save the very old tombs that are threatened to be destroyed by the Priest at the Lydia Catholic church. Please let me know if you are able to help us out by letting the members know about it. We are on a serious deadline with this problem. Also you can see the names and pics of the tombs at Stanley LeBlanc's web site: http://www.thecajuns.com/tombs.htm Thanks Much, Linda Louviere Houston Please cut and paste the following: Some 50+ Patoutville Cemetery graves are threatened.... > > >>A notice for the website of the Lafayette Genealogical Society: >> >> This is a notice to anyone who has ancestors who were part of the St. >> Nicholas Catholic Church near Patoutville/Lydia. I am a member of the Lafayette Genealogical Society and would like to make a presentation to the group on our efforts since last fall to prevent any destruction to the historical tombs in the St. Nicholas Cemetery at Patoutville/Lydia. We have been able to find descendants for about 10-15 tombs and some have already been repaired. I look forward to seeing you soon. >> >> Julaine Schexnayder New Iberia, LA 337 365-7667 ________________________________________________________________________ AOL now offers free email to everyone.
