    1. [LALGS] Annual Banquet
    2. Jean Kiesel
    3. Just a reminder: our annual banquet will be held Wednesday, Dec. 6, at the Petroleum Club. We'll begin to gather at 6:00, and the buffet will open at 6:30. Our own Daniel Besse, recently ordained a deacon for the Diocese of Lafayette, will give the invocation. Our speaker will be Jason Kellman, Assistant Professor of History at UL Lafayette, who will tell us about the Marquis de LaFayette and all the activities planned to celebrate the 250th anniversary of his birth next year. Members who heard him speak to the DAR recommend him highly. In addition, Warren will have our copies of Les Memoires for us, and Martha has collected some wonderful door prizes. So please make plans to join us! If you have not yet made your reservations, send a check for $15.00 for each person to the Lafayette Genealogical Society, P.O. Box 52041, Lafayette, LA 70505-2041. Or you can contact Warren LeBlanc at wvleblanc@aol.com. Hope to see you all there! Sincerely, Jean Kiesel President

    1. [LALGS] New to Familysearch.org
    2. Just wanted to let those interested in African American research know. That Family Search at _www.familysearch.org_ (http://www.familysearch.org) home page, has a link to African American resources. From what I can tell, it appears that African American records are some of those being put online for free. It also states that they will be having topics (basically classes) that can be downloaded. Helping to learn more about researching this ever so hard ancestry. Mark this site as one of your favorites and see the changes happening. You wont be disappointed. For others researching their families, you will also want to save this site as a favorite because "actual primary records pertaining to ancestors" will soon be available as indexing of areas are completed. If you are interested in helping the progress of this project, go to the above mentioned website to learn more. Note: you can choose records to index that pertain to the area your ancestors are located in. Please note: that there will be no charge for accessing the records. Good Luck with all your research! 3. In the Lafayette, La. library, there are a set of books written on the church history in the Lafayette and surrounding parishes by Father Hebert. There about 34 or 35 books on data he has gathered from Catholic church records, etc. If you could find a set of these books or request a library loan, it might be helpful with the names you have listed Wanda -----Original Message----- From: lalgs-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:lalgs-bounces@rootsweb.com]On Behalf Of DElow Sent: Thursday, November 09, 2006 7:48 PM To: gatesearlg@aol.com; lalgs-bounces@rootsweb.com; LALGS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [LALGS] Fw: Bonnet/Bonin Families Good day All, I received the email below from a friend in Houston can anyone provide some assistance with the surnames Bonnet/Bonin? ----- Original Message ----- Hi Dana, I need your assistance on the above-listed, POC, families of Lafayette.
