I am looking for information on Theodule CHAUVIN. I have been researching him for many years. Theodule was born around 1827 in La., married Emelie LaLande and had three children: Eugene Edgar (1858), Camille Auguste (1861), and Francois Alfred (1864). I am a descendant of Camille. Theodule died on 30 July, 1892. This CHAUVIN line is not part of the large CHAUVIN line in Louisiana, according to family stories. Amazingly, this line is said to have descended from a wealthy Chauvin widow, who was allowed to escape from Haiti during the Haiti rebellion of 1791, with her five year old son. I believe Theodule's parents were Antoine Chauvin and Elizabeth Dumontet of New Orleans. Hello: I am searching for information on the ORY surname which may be located in your area from the late 1700's to the present day. The ORY family settled on Bayou Manchac ca 1769 and some of them spread out throughout southern Louisiana. Some became indigo and sugar cane plantation owners in many different parishes, including yours. Some names to look for include Jean Baptiste, Mathias, Antoine, Nicolas, & Ben. The name may be spelled several ways, AURI, OREE, ORI, & ORY. These were German settlers who settled the German Coast and possibly had a very gutteral accent, hence the various spellings. Looking for information on Louis C. Carr of Lafourche Parish. I think he was born in France. He was married on 22 Jan 1849 to Celeste Andra b. 7 Feb. 1823. I found Celeste in the Lafourche Parish 1860 census alone. Any info would be great....thanks...Renee
Looking for information on Auguste F. Tourel (or Tourrell), m. to Catherine Portier b. ca 1790 Lafourche. I don't have a date on his birth but know he died before 1850. She died 7 Jul 1853 at age 77 in Raceland. Their daughter Julie Tourelle was married to Achille Adoptill Forest. Any information would be great....Thanks in advance...Renee
