I have a Robert Laird b 1820 Scotland, married a Jane Lafferty in 1842 at St James Church ( methodist) in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He was a toll taker and died 1871 in Lobo, Ontario, Canada. He had a son William b 1850 in Toronto who moved to Cass Co IA but then I lose track of him due to a divorce or desertion. I am really stuck on where Robert came from in Scotland and whatever became of William.
