Ken, I do not believe we have been in contact before. My gggg-grandparents were William and Elinder LEAIRD. The family name has been spelled in a variety of ways. The family spells it Laird today. William and Elinder were from South Carolina and moved to Alabama in the early 1800's. The second oldest son migrated to northwest Florida and was found in the 1860 federal census for Walton County. Ring any bells. I do not know if the LEAIRD spelling was a misspelling on the part of the official recording the name or if that is the way it was spelled originally. I have wondered if the McLeaird family were related, but since William and Elinder are my brick wall, I have no idea. Sarah
