Letters I have received on your family state that Moses Laird married Eliza Jane Jarvis daughter of Aquilla Jarvis and Matilda Christopher. Aquilla Jarvis was of Welsh ancestry, born in Baltimore, Maryland in May 30, 1798 son of Edward and Nancy Jarvis. Aquilla Jarvis married Matilda Christopher 13 Dec 1820 in Baltimore Co., Maryland. Check the records for St. Paul's Parish in Baltimore. Issue of Aquilla Jarvis & Matilda Christopher are: Ann Jarvis, born 11 Oct 1821, Eliza Jarvis, born 16 Aug 1825, Susanna Jarvis born 28 May 1829, John Jarvis, born 10 May 1834, Joseph Jarvis, born 20 Feb 1838, Ellen Jarvis, born 28 Nov 1843, Mary Jarvis, born 25 May 1823, James Jarvis, born 14 July 1827, Louisa Jarvis, born 13 Feb 1831, Georgeanna Jarvis, born 10 July 1836, Ashiel Jarvis, born 11 Oct 1841. Aquilla Jarvis moved his family to Zanesville, Ohio abt 1838. William Laird, born 6 Aug 1781, father of Moses Laird wrote his will in 1847. His wife Mary and the following children are named: William D., John, James, Moses, Elijah, Susan Houston, Mary Laughman, Rebecca Hunt, Sarah Jane Pierce, Elisa L.Baird, & Rachel Laird. The birth dates for the children of William Laird and wife Mary Davis are as follows: Susanna & Mary Laird, born 24 Nov 1805, Hugh Laird, born 6 Jan 1807, William Laird, born 10 July 1808, Davis Laird, born 9 Oct 1809, Eliza Laird, born 8 Aug 1811, John Laird, born 12 Feb 1812, Elijah Laird, born 4 Jan 1815, Anna Laird, born 9 April 1816, James Laird, born 14 Jan 1818, Moses Laird, born 19 July 1819, Rebecca Laird, born 15 July 1821, Sarah Laird, born 27 Sept 1824, Rees Laird, born 14 Jan 1826, & Rachel Laird, born 20 May 1828. Mary Davis the wife of William Laird was the daughter of Moses Davis and wife Susanna of York County, PA. Supposedly there is a diary that was kept by Moses Davis during his service in the Revolutionary War, but I have not seen it. The Davis and Rees family are connected, and I recently viewed a film of the Rees family which mentioned a David Davis related to the family, so I am suggesting that you also research the Rees family for your ancestry. The Rees family is of Welsh extraction, and settled in Chester County, PA. Moses R. Laird was a Civil War veteran having served while residing in Minnesota. Private of Company D, 8th Regiment Minnesota Volunteers from 29 Feb 1864 to 30 June 1865. There is a picture of Moses Laird that was taken while he was serving during the Civil War. Places to check for documentation on the family of Moses R. Laird are: Muskingum Co., Ohio, Green Co., Wisconsin, Fillmore Co., Minnesota, Newton Co., Missouri, and Kingman Co., Kansas.
