Pat: Thank you so much for sharing this. I have just recently found my g-grandfather, Samuel Barnett Laird, b. Jan 29, 1827, d March 2, 1916. I have his obituary and where he is buried. He was listed in the latest Laird Newsletter of those in the Civil War in PA. Also have the obit for his wife, Marie/Mariah Roberts Laird. His obituary says he was born in Westmoreland County, PA and names his children, "John Laird, of Turtle Creek; Elmer Laird, of Uniontown; Harry Laird (my grandfather) of Elrama; Minnie Killius of Coal Center; Katherine Hines of West Brownsville, and Martha Elizabeth Friday of Petersburg, PA. His death certificate lists "unknown" as his parents. I looked up the census in PA on the website you listed and found that he is possibly the son of Hugh Laird, b 1799 and Sarah Laird, c. 1806. If you want me to send you the obits for the newsletter, I would be happy to.
