John Gould, In your reference to John Laird and wife Agnes Black: "I have thought that James LAIRD might have stemmed from the family of John LAIRD of Derry, Lancaster, Pa., who married Agnes BLACK in 1741 and mentioned Hugh, John, Mary, Samuel, William, James and Jane in his will of 1777, but I have not been able to prove it." The Bible record of John Laird and Agnes Black lists their marriage as 17 August 1738, and mentions a son named James Laird, born on the 21 November 1744. The children of John and Agnes Laird are as follows: 1. Hugh Laird, born 21 June 1742, married Mary. (My line) 2. James Laird born 21 Nov 1744, married Margaret. 3. Elizabeth Laird born 16 March 1748, married Matthew McKinney. 4. Mary Laird, born 8 February 1750, married Andrew Biggar. 5. Jane Laird, born 12 October 1752, married James Parkhill. 6. John Laird, born 13 March 1755. 7. Samuel Laird, born 13 November 1759. 8. William Laird, born 1 March 1762, married Elizabeth Crawford. LFA NEWSLETTER.
