This is a reply to Sherry Kline. My husband's great grandfather Joab Lard had Uncles named Hezekiel (Hezekiah?) and John according to another family researcher. All were from South Carolina according to Census records. I don't know Joab's father's name. I am still trying to make a connection there. In fact I have seen his name as Joe Abner Lard and Jo Lard so I am not sure of his legal name. His last name has been spelled Lard, Leard, and finally Laird. Joab was born about 1798 and lived in Kentucky, then near St. Louis, Missouri here he married Margaret Todd abt. 1824 and had two children Melinda b. 1825 in MO and married Asaph Ashley 29 July 1846. Jonas b. 1830 in St. Ferdinand, St. Louis Co. Mo d. r February 1862 in Memphis , Tenn. ( Civil War) Joab and Margaret sold their lane in St. Ferdinand in March 1840 and went to Randolph County, Illinois. Margaret died about 1842 and in 1844 Joab married Elsey Flint in Randolph County , Illinois. The family later moved to Grant County, Wisconsin. Joab's brother John married Lydia Todd 24 June 1818 in St. Louis MO. in the St. Louis Methodist Episcopal Church. Uncle Hezekiel ( Hezekiah?) married Catherine S. Pursell in Nelson County, KY 3 January 1793, was in Jefferson Co. Ky in April 1789 and in St. Ferdinand in Sept 1797. His will was probated in Sept 1806. Catherine later married Morris James. Children of Hezekiel are Fielding who married Nancy Sullivan, and settled in Washington Co. Mo., Isaac, Lucy (Gearnsey) and Rosannah ( Ira Nash) Someone else who contacted me had Caty Pursley married Hezekiah Lard January 1793 in Bardstown, Nelson, Kentucky. I have no record of a Tabitha Lard. I don't know if this will be of any help to you. If any other Lard/Laird researcher sees any connections, I would love to hear from you.
