A cousin in St. Louis will take a copy of what you sent. They really appreciate any information because they were told so little of family history and are now at the age where they wish they knew. I couldn't help but note other Lairds in the same town and county (Cape Girardeau, Jackson MO) and since they aren't that large, I'm convinced there must be a relation. It's a wonderful lead...... Hi Everyone....In answer to your inquiry about the location of the Laird families in Ireland....I have found in a book called, "The Book of Irish Families, Great and Small, Volume I" [ Second Edition ] by Michael C. O'Laughlin. In this book it shows a Province Map where if adding the info in the book the Lairds lived mostly in the Province of Ulster, the most northeastern province of Ireland. Laird: The name of a Scottish family settling in Ulster not later than the 17th century. The 1890 birth index find the family most numerous in the County of Antrim. Maybe this will help in our search for the Lairds and Boyds which also lived in Ireland. Bobbi, Sherry and Robert: I don't think I can help you but my greatgrandfather, William Garrison, was the child of a Garrison(father) and Laird(mother). He was born in Hart Co KY in 1830 and was raised by his maternal grandparents who moved to IL. There is a census that shows an Ann Garrison in Hart co. KY in 1830. Hart Co was formed partly from Barren Co so the actual places may have been the same even though listed in different counties. Further to that, Anne LAIRD (LORD or LARD) married a George Garrison c. 1807. The mother of William Garrison had a brother, Jesse, who also moved to IL. There was a Jesse Laird who fought in the Blackhawk war in IL. I have not been able to prove connections but would certainly like to do so. Then we could prove connections to some earlier Laird/Garrison lines. Daphne N. Richey (nee Garrison)
