Hello everyone, The most recent information being passed around the mailing lists is that FamilyTreemaker is allowing non members free access to their genealogy library for one week. To take advantage of this offer, Simply type the word GenealogyLibrary.com as your url and hit go. You will need to type in a keyword and password once you access the page. The keyword is "holiday" and the password is "special." However, they will ask you to fill out a registration form. After the registration form is completed you are ready to search their library. When I typed in the surname "Laird" it came up with 1351 entries. The surname "Lard" had 341 entries. Access also includes actual copies of the 1850 Federal Census for some states. Hope this helps some of you in tearing down your brick wall. Sincerely, Patricia Laird Howard

Thank Patricia It was in Vol 1 #3 July 1999. I knew I had seen it recently. I wonder what happened to his wife. I know that there were two Darnell families in Morgan Co. in 1820. I will have to look into it. Patricia: I recall the same thing. I do also remember seeing references to two different Lodowick Lairds. No. My Marion Laird was born in Lafayette IN of James and Permelia Long Laird. James and Permelia moved to Milford IL around 1855 to join his parents, Samuel and Delila Albin Laird, and several siblings. Marion married Matilda Coats of Milford, IL, Iroquois County and lived in that area until his death in 1927. Paul Laird I don't where, if anyplace, your Marion Laird relative merges with my Laird family. I've seen several references to Leota Alice Laird. I know she married someone in south central Illinois, in Johnson County I believe. I'll check some of my saved information. Do you know his birthdate? If so, try the LDS site and give it a range, such as plus/minus 5 years. Hi from Paul Laird, son of Robert Laird, son of Glen Laird, son of Lowell Laird, son of Marion Laird, son James Laird, son of Samuel Laird, son . . . I found it, Samuel Laird, son of William Laird and Ann Drennan Laird of Huntingdon County, Blair Township, Pa. According to old church records from Huntingdon County, William and Ann Laird christened a baby boy Samuel Laird, on September 10, 1804. The child was 1 week old. My ancestor, Samuel Laird, was born in Pennsylvania on September 3, 1804. I have requested copies of the LDS records that also indicate William and Ann Laird had a baby boy named Samuel "abt 1804." It seems my long lost search for Samuel's parents is over. ----- Original Message ----- From: Teresa Dunn <pebbles5@bellatlantic.net> To: <LAIRD-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, November 18, 1999 8:39 PM Subject: Re: [LAIRD-L] LFA Membership > Lucy Laird wrote: > > > Hi folks: > > > > We have been very silent this summer having been gone so much.
