    1. [LAGENWEB-L] Boat Show:
    2. 11th Annual Wooden Boat Festival held in Madisonville September 30 and October 1. The festival begins with a Friday night Captains Party at Friends Restaurant, with the festival proper beginning 10:30 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday. Activities cease at 7 p.m. on Saturday, 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Madisonville and Ponchatoula in particular trace their roots to the wooden boat trade that predated roads in this part of the world, creating several chapters of local history that is certainly not lost on the scholars of Southeast Louisiana University, which is taking an active role in the museum's creation and displays. The Wooden Boat festival is billed as "The South's largest gathering of historic, antique, classic and contemporary wood boats," quite an accomplishment for the 11-year-old event that has become the maritime museum's top public fund raiser.
