    2. Paul L LeBlanc
    3. On January 7th Ancestry/Rootsweb announced that beginning March 2nd, 2020, they will discontinue their Mail Lists functionality.  Upon receiving this notice Paul L. LeBlanc immediately began searching for another website that could accommodate the mailing list format he uses on Rootsweb.  After much research, he determined Google Groups was the best option.  So he has created two new public Google groups: “Our Acadian Roots” and “Our Louisiana Roots”, which between them will consolidate 77 Acadian and Cajun, 10 uniquely Louisiana, many French surname, and 32 Louisiana Parish Lists.  The new consolidated Genealogy research/discussion groups will focus not only on Acadian and Louisiana ancestors, but also on "All Early French in North America". Come visit the groups' new websites and take a look at the new format: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/ouracadianroots or https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/ourlouisianaroots If you would then like join either or both of them, just click "Join group to post" located at the top left of the page. If any questions or problem joining contact Paul at [email protected] If you would like to create your own "OUR ______ ROOTS" Google Group for your family or Parish/County, contact me at [email protected] .  I may have some ideas to help you get started.  In addition, we may be able to add your new group to our new and expanding research family. For more information, Paul L LeBlanc at [email protected]

I was wondering if you have any information about her prior to her marriage so I can prove or disprove my Sada Kerr is or is not the same Sarah Kerr. I know my Sada Kerr lived in Rochester, NY because I have a letter she wrote in Dec of 1894 with her address. I am interested in any info from Rochester, NY as I am not sure yet if she was from Indiana or not because all I have is the letter she sent from Rochester, NY. Any help would be so much appreciated. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: cmikem10 Surnames: LaForce, Napier, Perrin Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.laforce/68.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I think you bring up some excellent points! I'm a descendant of Bouth/Booth Napier, b. 1692 and I believe that his wife was indeed Sarah LaForce, a daughter of Rene LaForce, b. 1660. Bouth is part of the Napier/Perrin/Royall/Banks (Katherine) line. If you read through the early deeds and other documents that we know likely refer to the immigrant Rene LaForce, say prior to 1718, you'll find that they are loaded with names of Bouth Napier's aunts, uncles, and close cousins. Cocke, Perrin, Bayly, Aldy, and the Randolphs are all related through this Katherine Banks line. And they were all neighbors. Even the Will of the Rene LaForce who died in 1728 is witnessed by Bouth Napier's aunt and uncle, Thomas Farrar and Katherine Perrin Farrar. Three generations of Bouth Napier's descendants used "Rene" as a name for a male son and it was never used among the Napiers prior to Bouth. Of course, as you pointed out, the idea that the immigrant Rene LaForce would not have children until he was 62 years old, and then father four in five years is beyond belief!!! Such a feat would have a very low probability of happening today with our modern medical technology but in 1720's colonial Virginia -- impossible. In fact, in the 1720's the average lifespan for a man would have been roughly 45 to 50 years. If we believe this tale, we also have to explain why he decided to not marry, or at least not have any children, for at least 23 years after he landed in America. Then, suddenly the LaForce population boom! It just makes no sense. Most immigrants to the colonies married and had children quickly unless they were indentured servants, and that certainly was not Rene LaForce. The final fact that has me convinced that there is very likely another Rene LaForce sandwiched between the immigrant and the one apparently born in 1723 is involving a 1738 Bouth Napier deed in Goochland Co. I believe the immigrant Rene is often referred to in documents or articles as either "Colonel" or "Doctor." So, I'm wondering who the "Capt." Rene LaForce is that has land adjacent to Bouth's? ----------- Goochland Co., VA p. 148 Deed 16 July 1738 South (Bouth) Napler (Napier) to John Carter, Esq. and Isham Randolph, Gent. for £ 20, 100 acres on both sides of Tuckahoe Creek, bounded by Aniho.(Anthony) Hoggatt, Capt. Rene Laforce, and Capt. Henry Wood; with all houses, etc. No witnesses Signed: Bouth Napier ----------- The above 1738 Rene LaForce can't be the "Colonel" who died well before (and they usually state "deceased" if that was the case) and it can't be the Rene who is said to be born in 1723. He would only be 15 years old and couldn't legally own property. Who is this "Captain" Rene LaForce and how does he fit in? 2. For anyone who has yet to find these articles, an interesting account with impeccable sources may be found in the periodical, The Genealogist, Fall 2004, Vol 18, #2; Spring & Fall 2005, Vol 19, #1 & 2; and Spring 2006, Vol 20, #1. They were written by Cameron Allen, F.A.S.G., and cover most of our early VA/KY/MO, to name a few, LaForce families, including the marriages between LaForce and McGee & Gillespie. Susan Kerr

That is an allied line from a daughter (Martha "Patsey")of my 4th great grandfather, Samuel McGee. I'm not even certain which Rene he was, but I think he was either the one who first married Agnus Mosby, & later Martha McGee, OR, he was the son of that particular Rene & Agnes LaForce and therefor brother to your Randolph. Apparently both Rene and Martha were in Fayette County while Randolph was there. Sorry I'm not much help. Good luck! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
