Subj: White in St.Helena Parish, LA Date: 11/16/00 9:35:47 AM Pacific Standard Time From: AmyWM@aol.com To: I am trying to locate Benjamin L. White, born approximately 1815. I know he was born in Louisiana, but not sure where. His mother was Elizabeth White but I don't have father's name. Benjamin L. White went from LA to Sabine County, TX with his mother about 1823; was in Cherokee County, TX by 1845 and Houston/Trinity Counties, TX by 1850. I suspect Benjamin L. White could have been from St. Helena Parish because of the Richardsons, Womacks and Watson names. A lot of those same families ended up in Trinity County, TX. Amy McCroskie Denver, CO

Posted on: East Baton Rouge Parish La Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/La/EastBatonRouge/89 Surname: Bourgeois ------------------------- I have a number of relatives buried within Magnolia Cemetery in Baton Rouge, East Baton Rouge Parish. I understand that the cemetery is now maintained by the Baton Rouge Parks and Recreation (BREC) Commission. Their main phone number is 225-272-9200. Perhaps someone there can help you. Woodmen of the World (WOW) is an old fraternal type organization, one of whose primary purposes was to help the family with death expenses. Their monuments are four-sided columns with a pyramid type point on top. They are of various heights, but knowing the type marker helps locate a grave even though there are a lot of those type markers in Magnolia Cememtery. I hope this is of some help.
Posted on: East Baton Rouge Parish La Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/La/EastBatonRouge/88 Surname: Lockhart ------------------------- Roselawn Cemetery is on North Street in the city of Baton Rouge, East Baton Rouge Parish. My wife is buried there, as are some other relatives. Since I visit there from time to time, is there something I can help you with? I notice that you mention the Lockhart name. My paternal great grandmother was a Euzbay (Euzebia?) Lockhart daughter, of Benjamin Lockhart, from either Livingston or Tangipahoa Parish. But there I lose the trail. Do you have any information?

Posted on: East Baton Rouge Parish La Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/La/EastBatonRouge/84 Surname: Barnett, Rogillio ------------------------- I am searching for information on William C. Barnett. He married Louisa Ann Rogillio, daughter of Policarpo Rogillio and Catherine Dent. His children were born in East Baton Rouge and should have attended school for a few years. Where would I look for old school records covering the periods of 1850-1856 in Baton Rouge? Any help would be appreciated as I am planning a trip to Baton Rouge within the next 2 months. Thank you.
Those of you who are familiar with the Louisiana Archives, please see if you can help me. I am trying to find the hospital records for a man who died some time ago. He had been committed to the Louisiana State Hospital for the Insane in Pineville, Louisiana where he resided for several years and where he died.. I called the hospital and they told me all the old hospital records had been forwarded to Baton Rouge to be archived. I called a couple of number at the archives and talked to a lady (unfortunately, I did not jot down her name) who told me the old records were there. I was to send $20.00 which would cover the cost of the search (it was not refundable if they found nothing). I sent my $20.00 to the address and got back a form letter (along with my check) which also had a space for them to write that they did not house hospital records. The number of the Health Department in Alexandria to call. Though I was sure that was not the correct place, I called. They did not know (nor did this particular person care) what happened to the records. I started back calling archive numbers and was referred to other archive numbers. I was also given the mental health department number and the hospital number (they were to call me back but as of yet I have heard nothing). Since I live in Tallahassee, Florida these calls are beginning to get costly. If any of you have an idea as to where the patient records from the mental hospitals are archived, please, please let me know. Floreda
