HI: I would like to know what Native American tribes lived in the Baton Rouge/East Feliciana Parish area. Family legend has it that my grandmother has Seminole/African American heritage but the little bit of info I have says Seminoles lived in Florida, not Louisiana. Any reference books I can use to find out the answer? Thanks, K. Berry

Posted on: East Baton Rouge Parish La Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/La/EastBatonRouge/107 Surname: Hall, Mourain, Garnheart, Dumoulin, Porche ------------------------- I have several ancestral lines from the Baton Rouge area. Some lived in West Feliciana Parish, and a number of others in Pointe Coupee Parish. My great-great grandparents, Thomas Hall and Louise Rosella Mourain Hall, were from West Feliciana and Pointe Coupee, respectivly. They were married in Pointe Coupee Parish in 1857, but appeared to have lived in Baton Rouge...at least that's where they were buried, she in 1888, and he in 1910. Both are buried in the Catholic Cemetery in downtown Baton Rouge. I've been told that Thomas Hall worked on riverboats, and there is a Thomas Hall listed in the 1860 census as an engineer. I've check to see if he was a Confederate Army veteran, but have had negative results. They had five children, three girls and two boys. One of the girls, Marie Odile Hall, is my great-grandmother. Does anyone know anything of this Hall family?

I have your Daigles established. Most of the info about them can be found in the Diocese of Baton Rouge books; material about Benjamin can also be found in the Louisiana Genealogical Register vol 29 32 p114. I have 11 children listed as children of Daigle-Daigle. Some of Louis' children married in New Orleans (where I am) so I have somewhat more about them. I'm trying to connect all the Daigles. I'd be interested in what you have on the 11 children.
