Reply to the Address Below.......Not a Member >>>>>>>> From: daniel.hill@rrc.state.tx.us (Daniel Hill) . I am looking for relatives that may live in or around Covington/Hammond. They would be the Hill family, a pastor that I think would be named either Frank or Edwards. Apparently, he is a brother/stepbrother of my late father and I've been looking for some time of relative since 1984 with no results. Feel free to drop my email address to any relative that might know of the John B. Hill, Sr. family from Bogalusa and married into the Boyington family, Edward and Annie Boyington; daughter Betty Lou Boyington (my mother). Thanks again for your help. Dan Hill

Our speaker this month will be Mr. John Hunley who will be making a presentation on the first submarine ever to be used by the US against an enemy. This was the CSS H.L. Hunley, used by the South during the Civil War against the Union ships. Mr. Hunley was present last month when the old submarine was pulled from its watery grave off the coast of the Carolinas. He has been researching the Hunley family and the designer of the sub for 37 years. (The last will and testament of the designer of the ship was located in the Covington, LA library). Can anyone verify that? Better yet, can you give me the phone number of the department to call? I have made several calls but have never been able to reach anyone who can give me a yeah or nay on the subject. Floreda
Tangipahoa Historical & Genealogical Society Meeting: Saturday -- May 05, 2001 -- 11:00AM Tangipahoa Parish Library [Main] 739 West Oak Street Amite, Louisiana
My ancestor was William Elisha Lot BAUM born about 1814 in Louisiana. His father was Alexander BAUM. I have the War of 1812 service record for an Alexander BAUM who served in the 10 and 20 Consolidated Louisiana Militia. However there is no information of a personal nature that would help identify him. A company muster roll has him at Camp Morgan near New Orleans. There appears to be more that one Alexander BAUM and I would like very much to identify the correct Alexander. William BAUM lived in Woodville, Mississippi for a while then moved to Catahoula Parish, La where he died ca 1866/67. He died intestate and Abraham CONN of Orleans Parish was appointed administrater of his succession. Any leads will be appreciated. Floreda
