    1. [LAEASTBA] Kevil Family Cook Book:
    2. Subject: The Kevil Family Cookbook The publishing company in Iowa has notified me that the final revisions are being made to The Kevil Family Cookbook, and it is scheduled for shipment during the first week in November - just in time for Christmas. The cookbook is titled: "Home Cooking With The Kevils - The Kevil Family Cookbook." The purpose of the cookbook is to help raise funds for the maintenance and upkeep of the old Kevil family cemetery outside of Princeton, Kentucky. All profits from the sale of this cookbook will go to the maintenance and repair work on the family cemetery for the next several years. By purchasing this cookbook, you will help maintain the dignity of the cemetery where our pioneer family members are buried and also preserve history. The cost of the cookbook is only $9.50 plus $1.50 for mailing costs for a total of $11.00 per cookbook. The cookbook contains 200 recipes submitted by forty-six Kevil family members in thirteen states and England, including several recipes from old cookbooks of eight deceased family members. In addition to the wonderful recipes, the cookbook will contain a dedication page, a brief family history, and several old photos of Kevil family members from the 1850s. The cookbook will also have a large section on cooking tips and household hints. I’m confident there will be something for everyone - collected and bound together in one volume. The cemetery was established on the Kevil farm in the early 1800s, and several of the pioneer Kevil family members are buried there. During the past 25-years, the cemetery had fallen into a state of disrepair, and was overgrown with weeds, brush and trees. Donations were taken-up at the last family reunion in 2001 to remove all the weeds and overgrowth and restore the dignity of the family cemetery. Twenty-eight headstones were discovered after the cemetery was cleaned up, of which four were unreadable. We now face the task of maintaining the old family cemetery, and not let it become run-down or in a state of disrepair again. I know this cookbook project, with your help, will be very successful, and it will raise the funds needed for maintenance and upkeep of the old Kevil family cemetery. I hope you will order one cookbook for yourself and several additional books as gifts for friends, family members, daughters in-law, and associates where you work. They will make a great Christmas gift. Please fill out the attached order form and return it with a check or money order. Make checks payable to: T. H. Kevil. Thank you for your help with this fund raising project, and I know you will enjoy and use this attractive looking cookbook for years to come. Your efforts and contributions are very much appreciated. Please feel free to contact me at (865) 690-6351 or Tkevil@knology.net should you have any questions. 1. [LAEASTBA] Test your ethnic makeup (forwarded message)
    2. TEST YOUR ETHNIC MAKEUP Have you always suspected there's some Native American ancestry in your family tree, but you don't have the documentation to prove it? A DNA test from a company in Sarasota, Fla., provides measurements of a person's racial ancestry and ancestral proportions. DNAPrint Genomics offers a do-it-yourself test you can order on its Web site http://www.dnaprint.com. A test costs $290 regularly or $160 as part of an introductory special offer. Simply swab the inside of your cheek, and DNAPrint will determine your racial mix. Scientists at DNAPrint look at a set of genetic markers that can tell a lot about a person's continent of origin. Looking at differences in genetic variations among populations helps them to determine a customer's racial makeup. Visit the Web site for details. To learn more about genetic genealogy, see the August 2002 issue of Family Tree Magazine; highlights are at http://www.familytreemagazine.com/articles/aug02/dnaterms.html
