Her husband was County clerk of Upshur County in Texas in th 1850's. We have a record of him being given a power of attorney for James Dillard of DeSoto Parish during this period. In researching DeSoto parish, I noticed that in 1852, J. H. Dillard was Sheriff. Does any one have any additional information about this Dillard? Could it be James Dillard? Thank you, Norma Smith
