114/01 >From a reference in a recently-discovered Civil War letter, I am curious about Tom Lister of DeSoto Parish. In the 1860 Census he was "T.M. Lister" 39 years of age, born Virginia (?), spouse Mary P. and children William A., John R. (16), Benj. T., Archy V., Catherine J., Martha A., and Mary. He had no real estate but considerable personal property. In the 1870 Census I find him "Thomas", 49 years of age, born Alabama (??), only John - now 26 - is with him, and circumstances much reduced. It appears he lived roughly between Kingston and Stonewall. Does anyone know any other information about this person? There's a very nice little sentence or two about him in this letter. Thank you.
