They had a place near Stonewall. My gg grandfather, Samuel D. (Douthit) DeWitt (1804-1886), is listed (1858) as a member of Evergreen Baptist Church together with two individuals listed by first names as "property of" brother S.D. DeWitt. (I can check the names if you wish.) There were black DeWitts living around Stonewall in the 1940s and 1950s when I visited my grandparents there. They were said by my family to be descendants of ex-slaves of their ancestors. No proof.
