Hi, List! I'm new to the list but would like to make a general inquiry into a birth record found at FamilySearch.com. It is for an Edwin Hermon, b. 1843 "near Logansport, LA." His tombstone in Milam Co. reflects he was born Aug 1843. I would be grateful if anyone can assist me in locating a birth record or church entry of his birth that would show his parents' names. Even tax records for the county at that time which might name Hermon /Herman families. There is, of course, the possibility his family was in Shelby Co., TX, relatively close to Logansport, LA.
