Has anyone come across a news article from about 1884 - 1886 where Joe Looney committed murder. The rumor is so vague that I'm can't be certain that this is a true story. Rumor is that he murdered over a poker game and that he had the choice of staying in Louisiana and hanging or leaving the state. It was even rumored that he killed three black men that worked for one of the poker players. I do know that his wife returned to DeSoto Parish to sign the sale of their property (I can't get my hands on that date right now - got to go to Clayton library soon). Just thought I'd toss this out there to see if anyone may have seen or heard of this. I feel the murder happened around Keatchie.
