Specifically, if my memory is correct, it would have been the father of George W. Carroll: Francis Lafayette Carroll. Might have been owned by G. W. Carroll himself. Money from the mill was used to help finance a fellow church member named Mr. Lucas who wanted to drill for oil just outside of Beaumont, Texas. The oil came in and "Spindletop Oilfield" was born.
