There was a message the other day about the restaurant in Grand Cane, and historic artifacts there including a photo of the Mill. The name of the restaurant is (I think still is) Jay and Debbie Kay's. They should be "in the book." A year and a half ago it still was open. If anybody knows it has closed, pls post that. Nancy W.

Posted on: DeSoto Parish La Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/La/DeSoto/10772 Surname: abington ------------------------- There was a photo of the first Abington from the 1800s who settled in Desoto parish, hanging in a restaurant in Grand Cane, LA. Someone from the branch bank in Grand cane, located nearby, should be able to tell you what happened to the photo. The people who opened the restaurant were from Shreveport, not related to Abington, but they had many artifacts hanging in the store of the towns history.

They had four children, they acquired some land in Hunter in the late 1800s. My grandmother's maiden name was Griffen. I would think they got married in the 1870's or 80's. Also, I hope to visit Desoto Parish sometime soon, when searching for information at the library or courthouse what are some of the records I need to ask for. I know this is asking a lot, but I would be deeply appreciative. If info happens to be on the CD's could you tell me how and where to purchase them.
