Posted on: DeSoto Parish La Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/La/DeSoto/10822 Surname: Harris, Carroll ------------------------- Since posting the original inquiry I have learned a bit about the Carroll family; particularly the brothers of Sarah Jane Carroll; but nothing about A A Harris before the marriage. There is an unconfirmed thought within our family that he was from Alabama or Georgia; otherwise, nothing. I would certainly appreciate any help from your family. Leonard Hale

Posted on: DeSoto Parish La Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/La/DeSoto/10818 Surname: Green ------------------------- I am also searching for information on my Great Grandfather, "Robert Amos Green". I know he died in LA but I took a guess on DeSoto Parish since that is where Goldie Amos Green was born. My Grandfather was Goldie and Jodie's brother, "Robert Fredrick Green". I have a book on the Fortenberry family (Robert Amos married Susan Catherine Fortenberry) but have been stopped cold in my search for the Greens. I remember seeing Aunt Jodie when she came to see my Grandparents in Olton, TX. If you break through this brick wall, will you please let me know and I will do the same for you.

Posted on: DeSoto Parish La Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/La/DeSoto/10812 Surname: Jones, Hardy, Renfro ------------------------- Am searching for descendents of Mansfield and Emma Jones. Address in 1946 was Route 1, Pelican Louisiana. Mansfield died in 1948 in De Soto Parrish. Emma died in 1948 in Caddo Parrish while apparently living with a child whose name may have been Inez or Ivey Johnston. Another child may have been W. J. Jones. Both Mansfield and Emma are buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in Sabine Parrish. Mansfield was my grandfather's brother and Emma was a first cousin also. Contact with this part of the family was lost and would very much like to find any that are left. Have much information to share with them including pictures of the three brothers and their father. Any help will be very appreciated. Thanks.
I'm a direct descendant of Wesley Walker. His daughter, Virginia Walker, married Joseph Anderson Scott Sr. They had amongst others, Emma Scott who married John James Percy Hendricks, who had amongst others James Elvin Hendricks, my dad. Everyone of those persons named herein are buried at Grove Hill Cemetery. I have quite a bit of genealogy research done, including those. You can see all my info at: http://www.challengenet.com/hendricks/index.spml Let me know if you have info that I don't have. Rod
Posted on: DeSoto Parish La Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/La/DeSoto/10811 Surname: Walker ------------------------- Does anyone know the familiy connections of the Westley Walker buried in Grove Hil Cemetery (not to be confused with John Wesley Walker who married Elizabeth Jane Dorset). Westly Walker is buried to the right of the gate entrance and I believe his date of birth was 1840's or 1850's. I believe I am related to the Westley Walker of Natchictoches Parish below Marthaville, born 1820's. He is probably the father of the above mentioned John Wesley Walker.

Hi, Mr Meeks - Many will know the answer to this, maybe I will write first. Welcome Hall is not standing, it burned down in February 1935. (I have a copy of the article about the fire.) It was near Stonewall. There are a few photos of it; I think the DeSoto Plume is thinking about doing an article about it. There is a page on it in Goodloe Stuck's wonderful book "Heritage Scrapbook - Northwest Louisiana." It is also described in the book "Louisiana Plantation Homes" by W. Darrell Overdyke, at Page 201. If you (or other folks) have info or other background about Col. Edwards and Welcome Hall, will you share them with this page, please? He was a very interesting figure. Thank you. Nancy Wilson (loosechips@aol.com)
