    1. [LADESOTO-L] Obit, Elbert Wilkinson, Sr
    2. Willie Elbert WILKINSON, b. 2-21-1906 d. Unknown Year but probably 1980, Nacogdouches Co., TX Son of David N. WILKINSON and Sadie Phillips of Wallace, Pelican, and (maybe) Many, LA, then Melrose, TX. Elbert WILKINSON Funeral for Elbert Wilkinson, Sr. 74, of Woden, will be held at 2 p.m.. Sunday at the Woden Baptist Church with burial in the Melrose Cemetery. Officiating will be Emmett Upchurch of the Woden Baptist Church and W. H. Bartlett of the Melrose Baptist Church. Mr. Wilkinson died Thursday at Memorial Hospital. He was born February 20, 1906, in Many, La, the son of David and Sadie Phillips Wilkinson. Mr. Wilkinson was a retired farmer and school bus driver for the Woden Schools. He and Esther Garret were married Nov. 22, 1924 and she survives him. A member of the Woden Baptist Church Mr. Wilkinson lived in the area most of his life. In addition to his wife, survivors include to sons, Willie Elbert Wilkinson, Jr., of Houston and Bobby J. Wilkinson of Seguin; one daughter, Mrs. Bufford (Mavis) Hammet of Henderson; two brothers, Marvin Wilkinson and Alton Wilkinson, both of Houston; two sister, Mr. Dora Holt of Houston and Mrs. Fannie Johnston of Many, La., nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Pallbears will be Jim Raines, Mark Wilkinson, Greg Wilkionson, Hubert Wilkionson, Buddy Wilkinson, and Randy Heiser. Oakley-Metcalf Funeral Home is in charge of arraignments. I think the reference to Many may be incorrect. In 1980 Mrs. Fannie Johnston lived in Mansfield, DeSoto Parish, and had been there about 35 years. This family lived near Plesant Hill - Wallace so they may have been in either parish in 1906. 1. [LADESOTO-L] Extra Books
    2. Jerry Linney
    3. I have some extra copies of a wonderful book titled "What won't be in my Will" The books were purchased directly from the author for a marketing program that was never introduced and now I need to find a home for them. The book is laid out in a format to obtain the thoughts, dreams and stories that would not be passed from one generation to the next. It''s a great way for your family members and loved ones to leave behind their most cherished thought and moments. I am happy to give these books for free, just send me your address and tell me how many you want. I prefer to keep the quantities requested by each person under 10 so that many people can order them. However, if you have a special need and would like more, just let me know. Thanks, Jerry San Diego, CA Researching Kerlin, Mat(t)hews, Kirkland, Killgore and Cook in LA

    1. Re: [LADESOTO-L] Insert for Old Photo
    2. Are you on a PC running Windows 98? I think this will work for 95 to but I'm not certain. Anyway, here is a way to view fonts. Click on the START button, go to FIND (files and folders) and enter FONTS. You will get a list of places that have FONTS. One is C:\WINDOWS\FONTS. Click on the little folder icon and you'll get a list or a bunch of icons, depending on how your Windows is set up. Click on one of those and you can see what it looks like. Some good ones have Archaic, Old Style, etc. in the name. Congratulations on discovering and utilizing this amazing genetic similarity. My wife and her mother looked quite a bit alike but it seems to have stopped there. Grant Searching for JOHNSTON, JOHNIKEN, MIDDLETON, WILKINSON, and related names in AL. S. LA. and TX.

    1. [LADESOTO-L] Insert for Old Photo
    2. Hello: I hope this is not out of line with this sort of question to the genealogy lists that I belong to, but it is genealogy related. I am sending this to several lists because I am doing up a very special genealogy photo montage. It is composed of my husband's Grandmother, Nannie Hubble, who was born in 1880 and her GGGranddaughter (our granddaughter, Rebeka, born in 1986). Everyone in the family has remarked how Rebeka - almost 100 years later - is the spitting image of her GGGrandmother Nannie. Soooo, I took Rebeka up and found a Gibson Girl outfit like they wore at the end of the last century, dressed Rebeka exactly like her GGGrandmother Nannie, We bought rings and a necklace as close as possible as those in the picture. Nannie's picture had a ring on her necklace, so we put one of Rebeka's GGrandmother's rings on her necklace that almost perfectly matched Nannie's. Then took Rebeka to the hair stylist and had her hair done in the same style, and we went to a photo vintage shop and had her pose just as Nannie did by a wicker chair so the poses would be identical. It is a work of art! They are almost 100 years apart in age, but it looks like they are twins. Everyone who sees the pictures says it is just too eerie. One of the pictures is of Rebeka holding and looking at the picture of her GGGrandmother Nannie. Now, my dilemma is that I want to have the proper font for the insert under each picture with names and dates that would be fitting for such a family heirloom before I have it framed at the frame shop. Can anyone out there suggest what font would look good under pictures like that? Thanks for listening & reading this far. This is just so important to me, and I want it to be perfect, since Rebeka is so interested in the finished product. Believe me, it got her interested in my favorite hobby, genealogy. She may be only 14, but this has brought her into asking all sorts of questions about all of the 12 family lines that I am researching, and not just the Hubbells. Jackie
