9/5/01 Is anyone on this line interested in the life of Col. Charles A. Edwards, who was a pioneer in DeSoto, encouraged many families to migrate there, and was one of the largest land-owners in the Parish? I'm doing some research about him just now. He died in 1865. He never married and had no descendants, so it isn't a genealogical thing, but he was a very important figure in the area. He did have three nephews, all named Edwards, but none stayed in the area. If anyone else has any information on him or his home (Welcome Hall, around Stonewall / Gloster) I would like to hear from you. Nancy Wilson loosechips@aol.com

To Lynda & Ruby & any others interested, The Headricks appear in the DeSoto Parish History book (1995) in a piece written by Aline Allison. All I know about them is in this piece; it starts with the 1850 census and George Headricks and his wife Rosanna. If either if you has this book, this is already known to you. Ms. Allison then tracks one of their five children, her g-grandfather Alford Sly Headrick, who married Robbie Hatcher in 1902. This entry has some nice family details if you are interested in that line. Nancy Wilson loosechips@aol.com

Hi, List! I'm new to the list but would like to make a general inquiry into a birth record found at FamilySearch.com. It is for an Edwin Hermon, b. 1843 "near Logansport, LA." His tombstone in Milam Co. reflects he was born Aug 1843. I would be grateful if anyone can assist me in locating a birth record or church entry of his birth that would show his parents' names. Even tax records for the county at that time which might name Hermon /Herman families. There is, of course, the possibility his family was in Shelby Co., TX, relatively close to Logansport, LA. Any ideas????? Any information is helpful that would pertain to a Herman or Hermon family living in that area during that era. Thanks for all your fine assistance! The above is correct although I'm at another address at the moment. Don't know what you have or need. Warrick Fergusson married Mary Guagne 14 June 1867. This was revalidation of an earlier civil marriage. No parents listed. Warrick Fergusons father was John Ferguson. Mary Gagne used Dias as last name which was her mothers last name (Vicenta Dias Gagne). We have more on John Ferguson and all above if you are interested. I'm on vacation and research trip and have all information before me. I will be at my email address on Saturday night although I can receive mail here today.
