    1. [LADESOTO-L] Tom Lister 1860s
    2. 114/01 >From a reference in a recently-discovered Civil War letter, I am curious about Tom Lister of DeSoto Parish. In the 1860 Census he was "T.M. Lister" 39 years of age, born Virginia (?), spouse Mary P. and children William A., John R. (16), Benj. T., Archy V., Catherine J., Martha A., and Mary. He had no real estate but considerable personal property. In the 1870 Census I find him "Thomas", 49 years of age, born Alabama (??), only John - now 26 - is with him, and circumstances much reduced. It appears he lived roughly between Kingston and Stonewall. Does anyone know any other information about this person? There's a very nice little sentence or two about him in this letter. Thank you. Nancy W.

    1. RE: [LADESOTO-L] Your Favoite Old Church?
    2. Paige Sanders
    3. Oh, my favorite church in DeSoto Parish is Old Union (it's off WPA road, I belive). It's awesome to turn the curve in the road and see the massive old building. On the inside, it still has some of the wooden spikes that were used to build it before nails were used. Also, there is a gorgeous Catholic church in Luling. It's on the main River Road outside of New Orleans. I'm also a church buff. My husband will see a little church in a small metal building and ask me if I want to stop and take a picture of it too....*lol* HTH, Paige -----Original Message----- From: gc-gateway@rootsweb.com [mailto:gc-gateway@rootsweb.com]On Behalf Of wooddoc01@aol.com Sent: Wednesday, October 24, 2001 8:36 PM To: LADESOTO-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [LADESOTO-L] Your Favoite Old Church?
