I have never found the connecting proof connecting George Squire Headrick and Casper. But I have always figured they are brothers. Both came to DeSoto Parish. I am sure that they are all connected but would like to have more information from you so I can be for sure. Your information supplied Rosanna Headrick's last name which I have not had before. Please contact me and thank you for your reply.

Could he have been the son of a Caspar Headrick and Mary Margaret Fischer? He might have been the younger brother of my paternal ggrandfather, John Headrick (1795? ?) who came to Missouri about 1850 and died near Cane Creek, Butler County, Missouri 1860-1870). Was George Squires Headrick's wife, Rosanna Martin, brother of a John Martin who married a Mary Headrick? They spent some time in Union County, Georgia. As I had no Samuel in my line at that time and did not believe they came from that area I failed to record the reference. I have since beeen unable to re-locate that file. My Sameul came from Alabama between 1840 and 1850 but the route taken is unknown. I have considered the possibility they came through New Orleans before moving upstate.

And the money from G. W. Carroll's percentage in "Spindletop Oilfield" helped finance him when he ran on the Baptist ticket (I believe it was called the "Texas Dry".. meaning the party was against all alcohol) for Vice-President of the United States. I cannot remember the name of the Presidential running mate nor remember the year - 1930s ??- I definitely know they didn't win! Specifically, if my memory is correct, it would have been the father of George W. Carroll: Francis Lafayette Carroll. Might have been owned by G. W. Carroll himself. Money from the mill was used to help finance a fellow church member named Mr. Lucas who wanted to drill for oil just outside of Beaumont, Texas. The oil came in and "Spindletop Oilfield" was born.

    1. [LADESOTO-L] Looney
    2. Bettye Bowerman
    3. Has anyone come across a news article from about 1884 - 1886 where Joe Looney committed murder. The rumor is so vague that I'm can't be certain that this is a true story. Rumor is that he murdered over a poker game and that he had the choice of staying in Louisiana and hanging or leaving the state. It was even rumored that he killed three black men that worked for one of the poker players. I do know that his wife returned to DeSoto Parish to sign the sale of their property (I can't get my hands on that date right now - got to go to Clayton library soon). Just thought I'd toss this out there to see if anyone may have seen or heard of this. I feel the murder happened around Keatchie. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/CEB.2ACI/208.1 Message Board Post: My GG grandfather was Rev. Robt. Henry Hill, the grandfather on your Robert Henry Hill. My line comes from Thomas Jordan Hill's second wife, Rosa Pearson. We know that Thomas Jordan had been captured while serving in the Civil War and spent some time in Louisiana. He also fought in the battle of Mansfield. The Pearson family lived in Mansfield (though Rosa was still a child at the time of the battle). Later, after his first wife's death, we know that he spent time in DeSoto Parish rounding up stray cattle. He may have met the Pearsons at that time or earlier. We have been trying for many years to find out who Rev. Robert Henry Hill's parents were. We only know that he was born in North Carolina about 1817, married Agnes Shelton Menefee in 1840. If you would like more information or can give me some, please let me know. Susan Cockerell
