Hi All, I told my Rogers cousin about my Uncle Charlie Brown's magic. I want to see if any of you have ever heard of this happening. I've heard the Blunt family knows about this magic too. When I was a little girl, about 8 or so (late 1950s), I had a wart on my left wrist. I use to wear a watch just so I could hide it (my brother also had a wart on his arm). Anyway Uncle Charlie asked me one day if I wanted to get rid of that old wart and he said he could get rid of it without touching it. Of course I wanted it gone. Uncle Charlie got a needle or straight pin (scared the devil out of me) and he promised he wouldn't hurt me. He held my arm with one hand and with the other he took the needle and made several X's over the wart (never touching it) and at the same time he said something to himself. I could see his mouth moving but couldn't hear what he said. After he was through he told me the wart would fall off. Guess what - within a few days that wart was gone. Uncle Charlie is dead and I want to find out what he did to get rid of that wart. Same thing with my brother, he got rid of his wart too. I know this sounds crazy but I swear it happened and if there is someone out there that has heard of this please tell me about it. Uncle Charlie and Aunt Emma lived in the country somewhere between Logansport and Grand Cane. My brother and I wondered through the area about two years after we attended the funeral for Emma's sister Essie Perkins. We found the old place where the house use to be. If it weren't for the curve in the old dirt road I don't think we would have recognized it. We went to the house that was just up the road a piece and talked to the folks that lived there and they didn't know anything about the history of the house or who owned the property. Yes, I realize my maiden name is Looney (Ha Ha) but this really happened. Bettye Looney Bowerman

Her husband was County clerk of Upshur County in Texas in th 1850's. We have a record of him being given a power of attorney for James Dillard of DeSoto Parish during this period. I am searching for the line of my third great grandmother who was MARY ANN PARKER married to my third great grandfather ISAAC LAY I. They were in Natchitoches PARISH and later DeSota Parish. Later, several of his sons were in Bossier Parish around Bellvieu. Isaac Lay I and Mary Ann Parker Lay at least had these children: Nancy Lay Wallace (married to Maxmillian Wallace), Elizabeth Lay Lafitte, (married to Severe Laffitte), Isaac Lay II (my 2nd.great grandfather married to Mary Adelaide Allen, a sister to C. C. ALLEN), Benjamin Lay, Thomas Lay, and William Lay. I believe that the Lays had come from Tennessee to Louisiana around 1830. I do know that my 2nd great grandfather was ISAAC LAY married first to MARY ADELAIDE ALLEN. They had five children: Sarah Louise Lay Boykin (my great grandmother married to Thomas Gordon Boykin), Mary Elizabeth Lay Robertson, Nancy Adeline or Adelaide Lay Swann Neeson, John Franklin Lay, and William Jefferson Lay. William Jefferson must have died at age one or two years old. ISAAC LAY II married second to Elizabeth Jane Perrett. ISAAC LAY II died in 1859 and Elizabeth Jane died in 1860. After this, ELIAS O' NEIL (I believe an uncle to the children by marriage to their mother's sister) became the tutor for the children. Can anyone help me out with this PARKER LINEAGE or ALLEN LINEAGE. Also, I need to find parentage of ISAAC LAY I and where this lineage was prior to 1830. Any help appreciated.
