Thompson of Alexandria was appointed chairman of the Louisiana drought relief committee, by Governor Long, late Monday, as he named personnel of the Louisiana committee in accordance with the request of President Hoover. The object is to bring relief to drought stricken areas of Louisiana through the assistance of the United States government. S. J. Harper of Winnfield was appointed as a member of the state committee from this district. Mr. Harper stated Wednesday that he would attend the meeting called by Mr. Thompson at Ruston Friday morning at 10 o'clock. The Parish Police Jury and School Board held a joint meeting Wednesday afternoon at the Courthouse and appointed the following committee to have charge of the drought relief in this parish and to attend the meeting in Ruston Friday morning: B. W. Bailey and Dr. F. C. Wren, Ward One; H. B. Martin, county agent; J. M. Gaar, Ward Seven; A. T. Stinson, Ward Four; J. F. W. Sikes, Ward Three; E. C. Willis, Ward Three; M. F. Collier, Ward Six; T.
