Files may be printed or copied for Personal use only. Buquoi, Joseph Felicien, M. D., of Covington, St. Tammany parish, was born March 12, 1879, in Pointe Coup e parish, La., and is a son of L. Buquoi, native of Pointe Coup e, who died at the age of 48, and of Helen Bourgeois, of St. James parish. After having attended St. Stanislaus college, Bay St. Louis, Miss., and having selected medicine as his profession, Dr. Buquoi matriculated in the medical department of Tulane university, New Orleans, from which he received the degree of M. D. Succeeding this, he took a post-graduate course at the New York polyclinic. He began his professional career at Lutcher, where he remained for 5 years. Though strongly supporting the democratic party, the doctor has never accepted any public office. In religion, he is a Catholic. He is a member of the State and Parish Medical societies, and of the Knights of Columbus. June 25, 1903, Dr. Buquoi married Miss Mabel Comeaux, daughter of Capt. E. J. Comeaux, the widely known steamboatman of St. James parish, and his wife, Zulma Tircuit Comeaux. Dr. and Mrs. Buquoi have 4 children: Fabian Edward, 9 years of age; Earl Andrew, Mildred Cecelia and Francis Harold.
