    2. I am looking for a Nathan Bugg that was a slave. He was my ggg grandfather. Now, supposedly Nathan was owned by a Samuel Bugg, and then Samuel gave Quin Bugg (his son) Nathan. I am looking for any kind of info on Nathan, i.e., what plantation was he on, etc. Any help from you would be greatly appreciated. thank you Gwen

    1. [LACLAIBO] Buckner family
    2. Kim Chance
    3. Anyone out there researching BUCKNER families in Claiborne Parish, LA? My ancestor was William Meredith BUCKNER, b: 1803 GA. He married Nancy S. Hawthorn in GA. This couple had most of their children in GA and then moved to LA where they had their youngest daughter, Elizabeth Emerline Buckner in 1851. Elizabeth married in Claiborne Parish in 1870 to Alvie Loranzo Dow Avery. Does anyone know when William Meredith Buckner died or where he is buried? I have not been able to find out much about this Buckner family and I'm hoping to find another Buckner researcher out there to work with. 3. Posted on: Claiborne Parish La Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/genbbs.cgi/USA/La/Claiborne/10138 Surname: Beene, Morgan, Warren ------------------------- The Nancy Morgan mentioned in the will below moved to Claiborne Parish, LA and appears on the 1850 census there as a widow. Her brother Obadiah F. Beene is living with her to help her after the death of her husband John M. Morgan. Nancy is specifically mentioned in this document as receiving slaves Jane and Harriet in settlement of Nancy's father's estate (her father being Lemuel Beene of Itawamba Co, MS). Other slaves are not named here, but Nancy's siblings, Anna Beene Foster (wife of Edwin Foster), William W. Beene, Robert M. Beene, and Martha Jane Beene Warren (2nd wife of Reuben Warren)all also moved to Claiborne Parish, LA. Here's a copy of the document giving the slave names of Jane and Harriet: Deed Book 7, pp 356, 357, Itawamba Co, MS (as copied from Estalee Beane Rankin's book, The Bean Tree, p 33) Rusel O. Beene et al to Nancy Morgan The State of Mississippi, Itawamba Co, MS Whereas Lemuel Beene late of said County, deceased by his last will and testament, bequeathed unto his daughter Nancy Morgan during her natural life and after her death to the children and heirs of her body one negro girl named Jane and whereas by said will it is further provided that after the youngest child shall arive at the age of 18 years that all the balance of his property not therin specificilly bequeathed should be equally divided among his children without sale if possible, and whereas that event has happened and the said children and heirs having met together and agreed to a division of all the slaves of the said Lemuel Beene not by said will specially bequeathed and upon valuation thereof it is agreed that they are worth three thousand eight hundred and fifty dollars which being divided among eight children being the number of said heirs leaves for each of said children four hundred & eighty one dollars, and twenty five cents and whereas it is agreed that the said Nancy shall have a negro girl about four years of age named Harriet at the valuation of two hundred dollars, and the balance being secured to her by said heirs. Now therefore in consideration of the premises we Russel O. Beene, Robert M. Beene, Obadiah F. Beene, William Beene, Anna Foster and her husband Edwin Foster, Martha Jane Warren and her husband Reuben Warren being the premised to hereby bargain sell transfer and convey unto said Nancy Morgan the said slaves Jane and Harriet to have and to hold unto her the said Nancy for and during her natural life, subject to her own control and after her death then to her children and heirs of the body forever. Witness our hands and seals this 14th day of November A. D. 1849 Signed: Russel O. Beene, Robert M. Beene, Obadiah F. Beene, Reuben Warren, Martha Jane Warren, Edwin Foster, Anna (X) Foster, William W. Beene Elias W. Bryan, J. P. Recorded 14 November 1849 by William A. Moore, Clerk If these names could relate to your research, I can give you more on the above Lemuel Beene and whereall he lived (TN, GA, AL, MS). Good luck with your research.
