    1. [LACLAIBO] Visiting Claiborn and Webster Parishes
    2. Susan Brenner
    3. Hi Everyone, I just got back from visiting in LA. The scenery is beautiful, but it's a bit humid. I found my gggrandfather's tombstone at Upper Old Athens Cemetary. I found other Beauchamp and Gamble ancestors I didn't know about. The libraries in Minden and Homer are really nice. The librarians were friendly and helpful. The Homer library had more local information, but the census at the Minden library gave me some needed information. Thanks for all your suggestions and information. Susan Beauchamp Brenner

    3. The Herbert W. Ford Museum was named because it was founded by Herbert Ford himself. He began collecting items at a young age which he used to fill a rail car that was located behind his house, I believe. The need to expand forced him to move the items into the old Claiborne Creamery Building which was torn down to build the new parish jail in the 1970s. At that time, Dorace Maritzky donated the present building, which is the old Hotel Claiborne that dates back to about 1890. It is located on the south side of the downtown square across from the antebellum Courthouse that dates back to 1861. The museum is now run by a board and is a remarkable museum for a town this size, with multi-level floors. You can find more about the museum and a story I wrote for the newspaper at the website www.claiborneone.org. The phone number to the Ford Museum in (318) 927-9190. It is open M-W-F.
