    1. [LACLAIBO] New Genealogy site
    2. Here's a new genealogy site with USA inks, state by state. http://www.genealogystatesearch.com/ It's a genealogy link guide for all 50 U.S. states, which includes links to vital records, State Archives, State Libraries, census, online archives, etc. It probably won't be indexed in search engines for a couple of months so feel free to "pass it on" to anyone who may be interested. Hope this helps with any U.S searching you may do.

    3. Well from what I have been told anyone is welcome to come. Just bring a covered dish. I was referred to a Mrs. Fuller who is heading the reunion. I haven't ever been to one of the reunions since my parents both died many years ago so I don't know exactly who will be there. I am hoping I can make it just to ask questions. If you can't go and have some questions you want asked send them to me at nola@cox-internet.com and if I am able to go I will take your requests and see if I can get answers for you. It isn't a definite that I will be able to go but sure would like to. Nola Ellington

    3. Well I just talked to someone from there on the phone tonight. The reunion is the Slack - Wise reunion and it is to be held at the Shongaloo Civic Center beginning ta 10 A.M. on August 4, 2001. It is a tiny little town and I don't know how big the Civic Center is but it can't be very big. Since I live only about two hours from there I am considering going just to see if there are any there that know any information on the missing women in my Slack tree. Nola Ellington

    3. Go to mapquest.com and look for it. It is just 10 miles west of Haynesville on Highway 2. That is in north Louisiana almost at the Arkansas line. Mapquest will give you a good picture of where it is. Nola

    1. [LACLAIBO] Tombstone vs Burial
    2. I have occasionally run across a tombstone, where the burial was actually in another state or cemetery. I don't really know why someone felt the need to erect a memorial locally, but sometimes they do. If you have reason to doubt the burial was really there, try this: Straighten out 2 wire clothes hangers. Then bend about one fourth of the length of each one downward at about a 45 degree angle. Hold one in each hand using the short part as a handle. They should stick straight out in front of you, parallel to each other and to the ground. Walk over the area slowly. The wires cross as you walk over a grave, possibly because the magnetism of the earth is disturbed when a grave is dug. I phoo-phooed the idea when I first heard it a year ago. After all, I believe in God, not in hocus-pocus. But others said it really worked. So this past spring, I made 4 pairs and took everybody I could persuade to a cemetery. What better place to test it out? I had been told that about 1 of 4 people could do it. I was hoping that, if it worked at all, 1 or 2 of the 7 of us could do it. Imagine my shock when 4 could do it excellently, and the other 3 pretty well. Oh, and be sure to try to force the wires to cross while you are still in your own living room. It's almost impossible to make those flimsy wires do anything! 1. [LACLAIBO] Crumps of Claiborne CO. Parish
    2. My name is Kelly Bernal. I have been in contact with Ed Crump Jr. and he gave me information of my ggg grandmother, Delila Crump who married James Marler in MO. He told me to contact this message board in order to get the same info for the family tree that he had. He had some information taking the Crump family back to England circa 1600 to Thomas Crumpe and Elizabeth Bucke. I am trying to locate anyone who may have the sources or where the locations for where the information was obtained. I can add my family tree info to that . Thanks so much in advance. Kelly

    1. [LACLAIBO] Julius Jefferson Squyres - LA
    2. I am interested in finding information about the Squyres family in Louisiana (or elsewhere for that matter). My grandmother, Ila Eden Squyres Herrington (b.10/09/09, d.2/21/94) was from central LA (Forest Hill maybe?). Her father was Julius Jefferson Squyres(d.abt. 1944) and her mother was Martha Josephine "Jo" Green Squyres(d.abt. 1974). That's all I know. If you have any information on a possible connection, I would appreciate it. Thank you, in advance, for your help.

    1. [LACLAIBO] Re: John Mask and Rebecca Jane Neyland
    2. Hi Dickie! I don't know if Henry Neyland had any siblings or not. It is possible that the two men were related. I know he died before the Mask family moved to Claiborne Parish, LA after 1847. In 1850, Henry's mother, Charlotte, was living in the household with John and Rebecca. She was born ca 1775 in VA. Rebecca was born in 1815 in Burke Co., GA. In 1840, she and John were living in Sumter Co., GA.

    2. Hi Shirley, Do you know if Henry Neyland had any brothers? If so, who were they. My GG Aunt, Anne Grubbs, married Joshua Neyland in GA. and left Columbia Co.GA. in 1810 . She also lived in Burke Co. GA. at one time. In 1811 she and family lived in East Feliciana Parish,LA. and in 1814 was in Amite Co. MS. and later was back in La. Thanks, dickiegrubbs@hotmail.com
