Hi! I am looking for information on a family that lived near or in Lake Charles from at least 1840 to 1853. Columbus Gillet(t) married Anna Marie Bilbo, daughter of Thomas Bilbo. They married on 20 June 1840. I believe that they married in Calcasieu Parish. I would like to confirm this. Also, they had the following children in Louisiana, probably in Calcasieu Parish: 1. Winchester, born in 1841. 2. Cloe, born in 1844. 3. Thomas, born in 1846. 4. Zachary, born in 1848. 5. Ann, born about 1851. The family appears in the 1850 census there in Calcasieu Parish. Can anyone help me confirm the marriage or births there? Are there resources available for this time period? Also, if anyone has a history book for Calcasieu Parish for this time period, I would love to have a lookup for the Gilletts. One last thing, Columbus Gillett was at various times in his life a minister for the Methodist Church. Is there anywhere where I can find if he was a minister there in Calcasieu Parish?
