The twins and both of the parents were born in Alabama. I don't know much about researching civil war veterans, my mother did most of the research. Somebody had sent her a pension file on one of our relatives. But she was told that for confederate soldiers you have to order the papers from the state they lived in when they applied for the pension, which would be around the 1890's. You might be able to find more info. on the NAIL page which is in the nara.gov website. I hope this helps.
