Do you think the court house would have anything regarding the case and who was sentenced to what. Someone told me that Valentine did go to prison for a short time but after one of the Johnson boys attempted to kill him it wasn't long that he was let go. I don't think Savine was sentenced to do any time in prison. If I remember correctly, one of the Johnson's escaped and his family got him across the river into Texas; the other was "mysteriously" killed on his way to Oakdale to see his mother after his release. Now whether any of this is true or just hearsay, I can't say. I too, haven't been able to find out where Valentine or Savine died, although Valentine is buried in Oakhill Cemetery, and everything I have heard indicates that he stayed in that area. At one time he owned property around Oakdale. This family is a real myster! y. I have been trying to locate information on one of Valentine's sons, Sherod "Shirley" Buxton. Again, I haven't been able to locate any information on him, no birth or death records, no marriage license, although he was married twice. He is buried in the Merryville cemetery under the name of S. B. Buxton. He died in like 1927, you would think there would be a death record. I have look in Texas, also, just in case he had crossed the river. Any thing you can come up with would be great. Don't worry, I'll remain patient, I know how it is, I've been looking for years now, with very little luck. Happy researching, Donna
