Listers, I need some help in filling in the blanks for these families. My birth mother was Esther Mae DOUCETTE. Her father was Arthur Clyde DOUCETT, b. Dec 29, 1890 d. Mar 5, 1982 and mother, Irene (McMULLEN) DOUCETT, b. Sept 1, 1905 d. Jan 16, 1986, daughter of Andrew _________ and Emmie _________ (BAKER) McMULLEN. The children of Arthur Clyde and Irene DOUCETT were/are, in no particular order: Clyde DOUCETT, living; Esther Mae DOUCETT (twin), b Apr 1, 1927 d. Oct 4, 1999; James DOUCETT, b. Mar 1, 1925 d. Oct 1997; Thomas Gerald DOUCETT, b. ________, 1943 d. Jan 15, 1999; Agnes DOUCETT, living. EXCEPTION: Other children of Arthur Clyde and Irene DOUCETT as yet undocumented are: Lester (twin), b. We have not been able to find the marriage date information of Arthur Clyde and Irene (McMULLEN) DOUCETT _____________ and a listing of children born of this union _________. What we have found, exception stipulated, have been some of the obituaries, SSDI and cemetery records for the above named. We also have the Certificates of Death for Arthur and Irene (McMULLEN) DOUCETT. Arthur Clyde DOUCETT's father was Hypolite (Po-leet), b. __________ d. ___________ and mother Fannie Adeline (BALLANCE) DOUCET, b. ________, 1868 d. ________, 1943, daughter of Rayford Crawford ("Rafe") (R.C.) and Rose Ann (PENNELL) BALLANCE. The children of Hypolite and Fannie Adeline (BALLANCE) DOUCET were Melvin Paul DOUCETT, b. Aug 22, 1888 d. Sept 24, 1967, Arthur Clyde DOUCETT, b. Dec 29, 1890 d. Mar 5, 1982 and John R. DOUCETT, b. ______, 1898; d. ________, 1928. Melvin Paul DOUCETT married Emily SALLING, __________. Their children were/are Jack DOUCETT, living, who married Gaynelle REEVES and lives in Ragley, La.; Arthur Paul DOUCETT, b. Oct 30, 1920 d. Dec 26, 1998; and Jeanette DOUCETT, b. _____ d. ________, m. ________ _______ LOUVIERE. Arthur Clyde DOUCETT listed above. John R . DOUCETT, never married and lived with/took care of his mother. Died at 30 years old. Fannie Adeline BALLANCE's father was Rayford Crawford ("Rafe") (R.C.) BALLANCE, b. _______ d. ________, found in the 1850 Texas Census which listed his age as 36 (b. 1814), from Mississippi, and mother Rose Ann (PENNELL) BALLANCE, b. _______ d. _______, found in the 1850 Texas Census which listed her age as 30 (b. 1820), from South Carolina. Marriage information not found. Land Records were found in Texas for R.C. BALLANCE and evidence that he was a Master Mason in Newton County, Texas. Their children were listed as Albert H. BALLANCE, b. _______ d. ________, age 10 (b. 1840); Lenora Ellen BALLANCE, b. _______ d. _________, age 7 (b. 1843) and in the 1860 Texas census, Mary Eveline BALLANCE, b. ______, 1859, age 1 d. ________, all three children being born in Texas. Family lore says that Fannie Adeline was the baby of eight children, two boys and six girls. Her family migrated from Texas to Louisiana around 1866 and settled on Ballance Branch in Calcasieu Parish. I have also heard that Fannie had a brother James Crisoff BALLANCE and a sister called "Aunt Ide" who was married to Erwin PERKINS. Most of the above are buried in the Ritchie Cemetery in Moss Bluff. and have no headstones, only cement with their names etched in it.
