Iam researching for my sister-in-law, who's late husband was Frederick JOLLISANT who was born in Calcasieu Parish, LA in 1907. His birth father was supposedly named VON ZOINT...Well needless to say I can not find either of these names in any records except for his death & children in TX. I think someone made-up these names, Frederich could not read or write. Has anyone ever heard of either of these names...??? I could really use some help.. Patricia Schiro schiro@gte.net

Hi Betty, I might be able to help with the list of known children of Thomas and Eliza Ryan Rigmaiden. Thomas, Elizabeth, Mary Ann ,James, Lucy, Henry, Catherine (our line), Albert, and Jacob. Most of my info came from Ray Rigmaiden, a descendant of Thomas Jr. Other info came from Thomas Rigmaiden's diary and Journery's End. Can anyone furnish me a list of >the known children of Thomas Rigmaiden?? Betty, your comment about census records encouraged me to take another look at the 1850 Calcasieu census. The online transcription of this census, which I had been using before, has a Nassott Olston with a daughter Catherine, age 6, but I hadn't recorded this family in my gen database because I wasn't sure who Nassott was. I just checked the image of the actual census page, and the name is actually Napol Olston or Alston, the Napol being obviously an abbreviation of Napoleon. I believe Napol to be the Napoleon Bonaparte Alston, 1820-56, buried in Hagar Cemetery in Beauregard Parish. The known children of Thomas Rigmaiden and Eliza Ryan: 1) Thomas Edward (m. Eliza Marcantel) 2) Elizabeth (m. Eugene Vincent) 3) Mary Ann (m. Adolphe Escoubas) 4) James 5) Lucy (died young) 6) Henry 7) Catherine (m. Isaac Lang) 8) Albert (m. Caroline C. Hewitt) 9) John Jacob (m. Cleo ?) LV Hayes lvhayes@worldnet.att.net

Posted on: Calcasieu Parish, La Query Forum Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/La/Calcasieu?read=400 Surname: Sanders, Hereford ------------------------- Sorry, but I have never been able to pin down who Charity's husband was either. I suspect that it was John Sanders that died in San Augustine Co, TX. about 1826. I have seen his name mentioned in several records, but have never gone through the Republic of Texas records that might give additional information on him. If you have the time this may be the best place to look. Houston Library has most of these records in volumes of books. I just refuse to drive down there. Also Stephen F. Austin University has the same set of books in their library. How are you related? The Hereford or Sanders or both? I wish you alot of luck on your search. Hopefully some day this little mystery will be resolved. Tassy

Posted on: Calcasieu Parish, La Query Forum Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/La/Calcasieu?read=379 Surname: ------------------------- You did not mention the time period that you are interested in, but the Calcasieu Parish Court House has marriage license after 1910. Prior to that you might try contacting the Southwest Louisiana Genenalogy Library at 411 Pujo St in Lake Charles, LA 70601. Their email address is gen@grok.calcasieu.lib.la.us. I know they have a card catalog that indexes the marriage dates a lot farther back than the 1910 date. I am not sure that they would have the marriage license or certifcate for the older ones, but perhaps a newspaper article. They do not charge anything for a look up and only charge .20 (twenty cnets) per copy plus the .33 (thirty-three cents) for the postage. Hope this helps and have a great day!
Looking for information on any William J. Morris, MD that was in St. Landry Parish, LA between above years. His wife was Cassandra Ruth Middleton of Franklin Co. MS. The had the following children in MS: Inez Z. 1845; Alief Ozelda 1851; Laura L. 1854; William [Willie] P. 1856; Emma J. 1858; Edgar E. 1860, d. 1861. While in LA they had two girls: Christine J. 1858; Ida Ione 1866. They moved on to TX abt 1868 where they had a son Eugene ca 1868. I have received information that a Wm. J. move to Rayne, now Acadia, and lived near a newspaper "Rayne Tribune" and the Rayne Opera House. That this William J. Morris MD had a shoot out with a Dave Bull an English immigrant, that Wm. shot and killed him then he shot his own wife, but the bullet hit a watch she had pinned to her shirt. That she left and went back to her own family, supposedly part of the James gang. I don't believe this is my Wm. J., but could possibly be a father or uncle. If any one can find this info and can send me copies which I will reimburse costs I would appreciate it. If there is an historical soc. there in Rayne, I would appreciate their email address or snail-mail address. Thanks. Pauline Hallett
