I am looking for information about a George Fisher, who was listed as living in Caddo Parish on the 1840 census. My ancestor was George Fisher, who moved to Louisiana about that time from Copiah County, MS, but the listings for the family members do not match up. The only proof that I have that he was definitely in the area is that his daughter, Mary Ann Fisher, married Greenberry Young Chambliss in DeSota County in 1845. DeSota Parish was formed from part of Caddo Parish in 1843, so in 1840 George could have lived in what is now DeSota Parish. On the census, there is only ONE George Fisher in Louisiana in 1840. Any suggestions on how I can positively identify this George Fisher ???? Sue
