    3. Here's my "O": James Bostwick OLDS was born between 1859 and 1863 depending on your choice of census, in Louisiana. His father was from Alabama; his mother was either from Alabama or Louisiana. I haven't been able to identify the family in the 1880 census. James married Julia Florence ROBERTS (more about her next week), probably by 1896. I've found evidence of six children, but there were evidently nine. The names I have are: Velma (f, b. 1896), Willie (m, b. 1902), Julia Veatrice (f., b. 1904 in Vivian, Caddo Parish), Lynn (m, b. 1906), Herschel (m, b. 1909), and Dorothy (f, b. 1912). In the 1920 and 1930 censuses James and Julia and children were living in Hosston, Caddo Parish, where he was described as a farmer. Julia died in 1947, James in 1948. Young Julia Veatrice OLDS married Wilmer Ferris KELLY about 1928; they lived most of their "married life in Ida, La, where she and her husband owned and operated a general store.", according to her obituary. There were two daughters, both are still living. Julia died in Shreveport in 1996, the last survivor of nine siblings. If this family sounds familiar, or if you can suggest where to look for more information, I'd love to hear from you. --- CajinCoon@aol.com wrote: > Hi All > If you have someone you are looking for in Louisiana that last names > > starting with the letters O,Pand Q post that information. > Please send information to the list not my email address. However, I have not found any sign of Haydens (as distinct from Hadens) in the Shreveport area in the mid-1880s, while there were quite a few Hadens. Perhaps yours was a Haden, and, like Alonzo, changed to the more common spelling later on. I will see if I can find your Ann. If you learn more about her, let me know. I have lots of information about the Haden family which I would be glad to share. Have you checked the census?

    2. Betty Clingman
    3. Jackie, What additional information was asked for in the census, i.e. place of birth, place of birth of parents, etc.? That can help narrow the possibilities of the year of the census. If it has the individual's pob but not the parents', it would be BEFORE 1880. 1880 was the first year the census asked for the parents' pob. I think 1870 was the only year there were columns for "Mother Foreign Born?" and "Father Foreign Born?". The information may also help you narrow the location. For instance if almost everyone on the page was listed as born in MO, chances are the census is for some county in MO. You mentioned a Nancy Ayles, what was her age and pob? Maybe you can find her in an earlier or later census. Gather all the clues you can glean from the one page you have. Let us know and we'll help you look. 3. Oops! I guess I missed the call for letter "K". I'm looking for the family of James Goodfellow Kelly. Depending on your choice of census, he was born in 1874 or 1877 in Louisiana. His father may have been born in South Carolina and his mother may have been born in Georgia. He married Flossie Cole (b. 1881) probably around 1899. By 1920 they were living in Hosston, Caddo Parish, and he was described as a merchant. I've found seven children: Lamar, Wilmer Ferris (I have info on his descendants), Jewell, Ruby, Mamie, James, and Maggie. I don't have death dates for James or Flossie. Son Wilmer Ferris Kelly was born in 1903 in Plain Dealing, Bossier Parish. I haven't found the family in the 1910 or earlier censuses. I would like to find firm birth and death dates and places, and parents, if possible. Thanks for any suggestions. --- CajinCoon@aol.com wrote: > Hi All > If you have someone you are looking for in this parish that last name > start > with the letter L , M and N post that information. > Please send information to the list not my email address.
