Hi Caddo list, I asked yesterday for the list manager to please IDENTIFY her/him self, but as yet have not gotten and ID back. I can not find anywhere in the archives of the list that will tell who this person is. I sent a message to the over-all [email protected] inquiring about the list yesterday, and below is my answer - But there must be something else going on. Subj: Re: Caddo Parish Louisiana Date: 3/23/00 1:55:31 PM Pacific Standard Time From: [email protected] (Ms. Piglet) To: [email protected] OK: Yes, LACaddo already exists. If it's not listed at ~maillist, I don't know why, but I'm in process of going thru and double checking those pages to see what's missing (as a matter of fact, I stopped just before Louisiana last night on US lists). It's been around since mid-1997.
I have had three responses to my message, so we are on a roll!!! I have no idea who the list manager is for this list: Manager: Please say Howdy and let us know who you are! The way this list is set up, when someone posts, you just see the first post, responses go back to the sender only, unless you use the "reply all" of the mail feature. Which can be good, I guess. Anyway, I do and have had a lot of family in Caddo parish - most all in the northern area, along the Miller County line. I have two great-grandfathers buried in the cemetery in Ida, plus multiple others. One great-grandfather was blown up by dynamite at Missionary. Another grandfather, from California, share cropped and raised my mother and her family any way he could. My mother tells of picking cotton and riding on the cotton sack as a baby while her brothers and sisters worked in the field. He tried to go back to California one time, packed the family up and got rid of the few belongings they owned, and headed out - only to be turned back during the dustbowl. So back to Caddo Parish they came, to start over again, find another job, and fix up another old house. It was hard times. I live about one/half hour away from Caddo Parish now, and take every chance I can to go that direction, because I love the feel of driving through the county. family names in Caddo are; Thacker, (Thatcher), Baird, Middleton. I hope everyone has a great week-end. Vicki in Texarkana
Hi - Is this list active? We were not even sure there was a Caddo Parish list, so sure hope so. Anyone else out there? VR

Prudent B. Cambre, a native of Reserve, LA in St. John Parish, has been researching the Cambre family for many years. Michel Cambre and Mathias Cambre, natives of Germany, settled in St John Parish in the mid-1750s. Cambre family members can be found today in many parishes throughout Louisiana and in several other states. Prudent is planning on publishing a book on the Cambre family early next year and realizes that there is much information he doesn't have because of the fact that the family has spread far and wide. He is inviting anyone who has family information to provide it so that he can include it in the book. If you have information that you would like to submit, you can e-mail it to me at [email protected] or snail mail it to: P.B. Cambre 2509 Broadmoor Drive Bryan, TX 77802 Since Prudent is 90 years old and he plans on starting publication early next year, time is of the essence.
