    2. Helene Pockrus
    3. Tod, The California birth and Death Index is on line and I spent several hours checking them yesterday. It is a cumbersome site with the search in a little corner and lots of ads. However you have to click on the year and then the name and it will check. Mother's maiden names are sometimes included. Good luck with the search! They are current until the 1998 area on some, and go back to the turn of the century. However the site is after the money for getting copies for you. 2. Helene is exactly right about Cliff possibly knowing something about the Indian Reservation.....I believe he has Native American roots on his tree. Bobby, Cliff's mom maybe able to help in this area also. Many of us have Bossier Parish connections and some like Kathy and I have dozens. So I almost feel like we have to be able to refer to both lists. It seems to me that the Indian Reservation that was mentioned is one that Clifton Cardin should know about and he is, sad to say, on a cruise of the Caribbean, so we will have to send this on to him to comment on. I would suggest that the message in it's entirety be sent on to the Bossier Parish List. They may have comments regarding it! So Dusty why don't you post this to the B. 3. Hello There Caddo Parish Listers, More action in three days then in the year I've been on list. I have a lost sole like the rest of you people, however no one need to go to extra trouble to assist, just watch as time goes by. I'm Looking for a lad, (Great Grand Father) who was married in Polk Co. Missouri in 1849 to a Elitzabeth S. Sanders, 1st. marriage and we never found them again until his 2nd. marriage, then 3rd. marriage and last, 4th. marriage. Well, not quite last, because we found him out, He also had a girl friend. I wrote this up into a fun type three part story, of which Harrison Co. Texas hisrorical socy. asked to pub in their news letter for next three issues. It's full of name leads, murder, Gang fights, outlaws, and war between two Co's in Mo. I'd love to send it to this list if you like to read true fun stories, Just ask and I'll send. These are the people who came to north Louisiana and east Texas. Anyway my area of search is on this Lad, with many names, and his first wife and 16 missing years. The question on my mind is were there any children born from first marriage. I have two leads that puts him, (her?) in Caddo parish, And the story make things so much easier to understand. I'm proud of the effort being put into this list by you guys, and I'll help also were I can. The name of the story is "And away went the Rabbit". Yours Truly, Carl Coffman, Family Historian. 3. Hi gang: Even though there's not many of us, I'll start posting my "brick wall". Anybody ever heard of some sort of Choctaw "reservation" or "settlement" in northern Caddo about 1865. My gr grmthr was born 1865 somewhere in La. (according to 1900 census) and family oral tradition says her parents were living on a "reservation" right on the La./Ark. border. I am a student of La. indian nations and have never heard (and can't find anybody else whose ever heard of) a reservation that far north. These people wound up in Sulphur Fork/Bright Star, Miller Co., Ark. working on a cotton plantation owned by a "Smith" family, where they took on the surname Smith. No one in the family remembers what the Chatah names were. We've got old tintypes, just cant narrow down where this "reservation" could have been. I will gladly entertain any ideas, clues, dreams, visions or insight anyone might have as to where this settlement could have been. I have an old map that shows two communities, "New Camp" and "Missionary" very near the Arkansas line. Could one of these been an indian settlement? Someone told me that "Missionary" was a plantation. Was it ever in Miller Co and maybe the boundaries moved? Also, they mentioned a village called "Kiblah" where a Britton Smith had a large farm. Was that in La. or Arkansas. When was todays present La/Ark boundary established? Anybody know anything about the Britton Smith family. Thanks!! [email protected]

    1. Kiblah / Choctaw Settlement
    2. Kiblah, is in Miller County, Ark. this community is located on Hwy. 71 and it is still identified with the usual road signs designating villages, towns, cities, etc. Don't forget that parts of Miller County were at one time Lafayette County, Ark. I believe that those county boundaries were moved at least twice. Choctaw "reservation" or "settlement"......I have seen this same statement before sorry to say at this time I don't have a clue as to where it is located. I have followed the Caddo tribe and in my reading and research I remember seeing something about the Choctaw. This gives me something to look for.
