Searching for any information on John McCutchie COOPER, born about 1816 in GA, died 18 June 1852 in Sparta, Bienville Par., LA. His obituary states that he accidentally shot himself. He left a widow, Permelia Ann DENSON COOPER, and children Susan Catherine COOPER (abt 1838-????, married Jesse BAGLEY); Malinda Caroline COOPER (abt 1842-1878, married Casamino TELLES); William Joseph COOPER (1842-1923, married Louisa Elizabeth GODFREY); James Green COOPER (1846-1915, married Sophire Alice HAMILTON); John Hillyar COOPER (abt 1848-1866); Thomas Gibson COOPER (abt 1852-1870). After John M. COOPER's death, his widow remarried to Peter THOMSON, and the boys were bound out, James Green COOPER was bound out to the GAHAGAN family in about 1856. In 1860 James ran away and joined CSA at age 14.
