Dear Grarnd PaPa3 or should I say cousin? I joined the DAR through our common ancestor. Our John Ferguson Jr.'s Revo. war papers state that he grew up on the Ronoake River in Va. All of his children were born in Chester Co. S.C. There is a marriage document in Franklin Co. Va. for one John Ferguson to Mary Hill. I do not have his father's will in front of me but he was John Sr. with wife, Mary. John Ferguson moved his family to Union Parish, La. from Amite Co. Miss. He was the father of: Son: William Ferguson Son: David Ferguson Daughter: Susannah who md. Jesse Wise. They are my ancestors. Daughter: Johannah who md. Richard Austin Daughter: Sarah who md. Mr. McGee and never moved to La. Daughter: Mary who md. William Austin Daughter: Christiana (Catherine) who md. John Feazel. They are also my ancestors. By 1850 he had moved back to Amite Co. Miss where he died. The census gave his age incorrectly. He and his second wife, Mrs. Mary Cason Ferguson were living with David Ferguson. He had married the 2nd. wife in La. after MaryAnn, our ancestor died. I had to prove this to join the DAR. My national number is 0763768. John Ferguson & wife MaryAnn (our ancestor) were members of the Zion Hill Bap. Ch. in Amite Co. MS. Later John Ferguson helped to organize the Mt. Zion Bapt. Ch. around Cherry (Pt. or something community) in Union Parish, La. How do you connect? I am unfamiliar with Chestnut and Creston community. I believe the Ballou's (sp. incorrect) intermarried with Wm. Austin's descendants. You will definately have to contact Roy Austin. He has so much more on the Austin family than I do. Hope to hear from you again and thanks to LABIENVI-L for this nice web site. Sherry G.
