I apologize to those of you who have received this twice. I have two requests. First of all, where in Louisiana do we write if we want copies of birth or death certificates, or marriage licenses? How far back do they go and what is the fee? Secondly, I'm wondering if someone who has a copy of the History of Bienville Parish, I or II would be willing to do a lookup and let me know if there are any HORTMANS, WILKERSONS, OR NEWTONS mentioned in the book. My great grandfather, William Henry Hortman married Laura Wilkerson there in 1878. While I have a little info on the Wilkersons, I have virtually nothing on the Hortmans prior to William Henry and know very little about him. I know he was born in Bossier Parish in 1852, and his mother was Elizabeth Newton, but do not know his father's name. I do not even know what William Henry Hortman did for a living. He died at Caddo Parish in 1920 and is buried in Bisteaneau Cemetary in Bienville Parish. Does anyone know what newspaper was there at that time that I might be able to get an obituary from? I am from Michigan and do not have immediate access to the historical societies there. Any info anyone has would be greatly appreciated! Thank-you, Judy Reed al ñ
