Hi Judy, In LA, birth certificates over 100 yrs old and death certificates over 50 yrs old are housed in the LA State Archives in Baton Rouge. I'm not sure of the cost but the address is: LA State Archives P.O. Box 94125 Baton Rouge, LA 70804-9125 More recent birth and death certificates are housed in the Department of Health and Hospitals in New Orleans. The cost is $15.00 for birth certificates and $5.00 for death certificates. Make check or money order payable to "Vital Records." Their address is: Vital Records Registry P.O. Box 60630 New Orleans, LA 70160 Marriage records, wills/probate, land records, etc are housed in each parish's courthouse. You must write to the individual parish clerk and request whatever you're looking for. Each parish charges different prices....but usually it's about $5.00 for certified copies. What particular parishes are you interested in??....I may have their addresses. Hope that helps :o) Kelly Priestly Simsboro, LA Judy Reed wrote: > I apologize to those of you who have received this twice. > I have two requests. First of all, where in Louisiana do we write if we want copies of birth or death certificates, or marriage licenses? How far back do they go and what is the fee? >
