They were French Hugeonauts from SC. This is a pretty well documented family starting in the Charleston area before the Revolution. I'm not a DuPre myself but some intermarried with side lines of my family and they tended to migrate across the South SC>GA>AL>MS>LA. Your line probably connects somewhere back.
